Unify Your Department

Every Athletic Department’s Challenge

Every athletic department, large or small, has the challenge of managing a diverse, complex business in a highly regulated environment. As in any business, management has the pressures to perform at a high level and drive success, but the complexities involved with success in college athletics may bring more challenges than in any environment. Athletic Directors and other administrators are responsible for driving a strategic plan for their athletic department that helps define what “success” means. Depending on the perspective of the constituency, this is defined by one, all, or some combination of:

  • Success on the Field or Court
  • Success in the Classroom
  • Increased Brand Awareness for the University
  • Increased Revenue to the Department and University
  • Post-graduate Success of Student Athletes
  • Participation in Athletics with the Utmost Integrity
  • Institutional Control to Ensure Compliance
  • Increased Participation and Excitement of the Student Body
  • Increased Participation and Excitement of Alumni and Community

One constant is that the members of the athletic department, including Athletic Directors, other administrators, coaches, and other staff are responsible to implement the stated plan of the department and success can only be achieved through teamwork and creating a strong, unified ecosystem.

The Athletic Department’s Ecosystem

Anyone involved with college athletics knows that “winning” on and off the field or court cannot be achieved without a strong ecosystem to support every facet of the athletic department. Truly successful programs need to find a way to engage and compliantly unify the following:

  • The Athletic Director’s Office
  • Teams
  • Internal University Stakeholders
  • Outside Stakeholders

While most people can easily define these groups, athletic departments have the great challenge of how to successfully define, engage, and transform them into a truly unified and thriving ecosystem. This difficulty has been even further exacerbated by the lack of tools to easily and compliantly manage all of the information, regulatory processes, internal processes, and other data and reporting requirements necessary to “keep things running” with current staff levels while remaining within budget limitations. Finally, there is a solution that fits these needs!
